<p>Lura Leigh Bennett Thomas, age 92, of Hodgenville, passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Hodgenville. </p><p>She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church, retired from the LaRue County School System, the first female deputy for the LaRue County Sheriff’s Office, an avid flower gardener, loved cooking, baking and seamstress work. </p><p>Lura was preceded in death by her husbands, John Howard and Hobart Thomas; her parents, Lonza and Anna Smith Bennett; a sister, Mary Bennett Dickerson; two brothers, Logan Bennett and Kenneth Bennett and a step-son, Malcolm Thomas. </p><p>She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Davila of Hodgenville; a son, Steve (Susan) Howard of Hodgenville a step-daughter, Shelia (Harry) Stanley; four grandchildren, Robbie Howard, Justin (Kelly) Howard, Toni Leigh (Chaz) Jones and Katelyn (Bill) Wickstrom; three step-grand children, Ivy Stanley, Shelly (Daniel) Pearman, Jason Hatcher; five great -grandchildren, Avery Howard, Annaleigh Howard, Nora Howard, Oakleigh Jones and Brixon Wickstrom. </p><p>Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 18, at Bennett- Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with Bro. Louis Humes officiating. Burial will follow in the Magnolia Cemetery. </p><p>Visitation will be held 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. </p><p>&nbsp; </p>

Lura Leigh Bennett Thomas, age 92, of Hodgenville, passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Hodgenville.
