On Wednesday, March 15, 2023 Marie Elizabeth Kirby peacefully passed away in Berlin, MD. She was born May 30, 1932 to Anna and Jesse Detress in Baltimore, MD. She was the fourth of ten children. Raymond Jacob Kirby, (Boe) her husband of 57 years, preceded her in death on November 12, 2007. She is survived by two children, Bruce Kirby (Susan) and Cindi Wilde (Ross). Marie leaves behind six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She is survived by only one sister, Jessie Valdvia and her husband Buzzy.

     Marie was especially proud of her family and always made it a priority to spend time with them. She was always ready to help any family member whenever she could. Marie especially loved her visits to Ocean City, MD where she would spend her days on the beach with her family. She never met anyone who wasn’t a friend. She would engage complete strangers in conversation.

     Marie was a member of Christ Lutheran Church for more than 70 years. In her later years, she volunteered at Christ Lutheran Church Shelter for Women. She and her husband Boe delivered meals weekly to shut-ins with Meals on Wheels for over 15 years.

     Family and friends are invited to gather at Christ Lutheran Church, 701 S. Charles Street, Baltimore, MD 21230 on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 from 9:30 am till the start of the Celebration of Life Funeral Service at 10:30 am. Committal Services and Entombment to follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Brooklyn, MD. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to The Baltimore Outreach Services, (BOS),  C/O Christ Lutheran Church, 701 S. Charles St., Baltimore, MD 21230.
