Maria (Travassos) Carroca, age 77 of Taunton, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2023 at her residence with her loving family by her side.

She was the beloved wife of Jose Carroca.

Born in Sao Miguel, Acores, Maria was the daughter of the late Joao and Gloria

(Amaral) Travassos.

Before her retirement, Mrs. Carroca was employed with Necco Candy in Cambridge, Mass.

She enjoyed cooking, gardening, reading her prayer book, listening to her favorite Portuguese songs, but most of all cherished spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Besides her beloved husband Jose of over 57 years, Maria is survived by her loving children; Roberto Carroca, Anabela Carroca both of Taunton, Mass, Norma Meeks and her husband Jimmy of Brockton, Mass and Helena Nordengren and her husband Eric of Merrimack, NH. She was a grandmother to Sean, Andrew, Mya, Garrett, Brianne, Fallyn, Taylor, Caden and Gavin and great-grandmother of Mia, Madison, Chase, Christian and Cataleya. She was also the sister of Normanda Correia of Somerville, Mass and the loving grandmother of the late Brendon Darosa.

Maria’s funeral will be held on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at 7:45 am from the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 am in Saint Anthony Church School Street, Taunton.

Interment will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, March 20th from 4 to 7pm in the Silva Funeral Home. Additional parking with handicap access is located on the North side of the Funeral Home.
