<p>John W. Christians, 97, of Fort Dodge passed away Thursday, March 16, 2023, at Friendship Haven. </p><p> A visitation for John will be held on Sunday March 19th from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at Laufersweiler Funeral Home with funeral services at 1:30 PM on Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Corpus Christi Cemetery with military rites will be presented by the V.F.W. Post 1856 and the U.S. Navy Honor Guard. </p><p> John is survived by his children Jack M. (Peg) of Nashville, TN, Michele Eslick of Fort Dodge, Paul J. of Nashville, TN, grandchildren Sarah, Trisha, Brittney, Christian, Meredith, Olivia, and Claire, and 11 great grandchildren.</p><p> He was preceded in death by his parents, Harm and Estella (Schoonover) Christians, wife Rosemary, siblings Glenn Christians and Vida Mae Johnson.</p><p> John W. Christians was born November 13, 1925, in Klemme, Iowa. When he was young John and his family moved to Moorland. In 1943, John graduated from Moorland High School. He then enlisted in the United States Navy and served during WWII in the Pacific Theater until his honorable discharge with the rank of Quartermaster 2nd Class in 1946. He then made Fort Dodge his home. John was united in marriage to Rosemary Bird on September 25, 1946. For 42 years, He worked for Georgia Pacific. John retired in 1988 and enjoyed wood working as a hobby. He was a member of Holy Trinity Parish and the American Legion. </p><p> Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.</p>
