Dr. Ying B. Lin, age 79, passed away on Monday, March 13, 2023, at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Somerset in Somerville, NJ.

Born in Miao Li, Taiwan, Dr. Lin moved to the United States in 1972, where he resided in New York City and Edison before moving to Warren 36 years ago. Dr. Lin received his medical doctorate from the China Medical University in Taichung, Taiwan. Dr. Lin also received a Ph.D. in acupuncture from Occidental University. Most of Dr. Lin’s medical career was spent working as an anesthesiologist for St. Peter’s University Hospital in New Brunswick, retiring in 2015.

In his spare time, Dr. Lin was an avid golfer, world traveler, and a wine enthusiast. He also took up mastering the erhu and practicing calligraphy in retirement. Dr. Lin graciously donated his time as a medical doctor to Operation Smile, an international charity that repairs cleft pallets in underdeveloped nations.

Dr. Lin is survived by his wife of 49 years, Julia Lin; son William Lin; daughter Emily Lin and her husband, Geoffrey Lee; grandson Ethan Lee and several brothers and sisters.

A memorial gathering will be held on March 31, 2023, from 9 am to 11 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd. Watchung NJ 07069 followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. The inurnment will follow immediately at Somerset Hills Memorial Park in Basking Ridge.
