James J. McDonnell, 77, of Midland passed away on March 14, 2023 surrounded by family. He was born to the late James and Madelyn (Kelly) McDonnell on February 16, 1946.

James served his country honorably in the United States Air Force during the Viet Nam War. He was an alumnus of Michigan State University and supported the Spartans in all sports. James enjoyed trains and model airplanes but spending time with his family was what he loved.

James is survived by his son Patrick (Lacy) McDonnell, grandchildren, Austin, Blaiz and Brylie. He is also survived by his sister, Madelyn (Lee) McDonnell, brothers, William (Katherine) McDonnell, Richard (Susan) McDonnell and many nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the family in his name.
