Robert Glendon Cox Obituary

Robert Glendon Cox, age 82 of Redland, passed away March 10, 2023. He was born on August 16, 1940 in Redland, Texas to Roy Cleveland and Florence Marie Radney Cox. He was a graduate of Hawkins High School in 1958. He then enlisted in the United States Navy and was discharged in 1962 as 2nd Class Petty Officer (electrician). He retired from Kelly Springfield in 1999 after 37 years of employment. On April 18, 1964 he married Joyce Queenelle Browning Cox. They raised two sons, Robert Don Cox and Russell Glen Cox and one daughter Rhonda Lorene Cox.


To know Robert Cox was to love him. Truly a genuine, loving, warm, caring, honorable man who was selfless and hard working. He was an avid gardener who enjoyed Bluegrass music and spending time with his kids, grandkids and great grandkids in the shop. He also enjoyed attending Bluegrass festivals, and playing Bingo with his late wife Joyce.


Robert was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Marie, his wife Joyce, his daughter Rhonda and sister Frances Estes. He is survived by his children Robert Cox and Brenda, Russell and Brandi Cox; grandchildren Nicholle Loyd, Amanda Loyd, Sydney and Connor Walsh, Troy Cox, and Mckenna and Austin Drawbond. Great grandchildren, Saylor and Amana and Cylus and A'maya; and sister Thelma Wansley and sister-in-law Loyce Johnson, and several nieces, nephews and friends.


Memorial services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday April 29, 2023 at Turner

(Redlands) Cemetery, CR 2695. A celebration of life following services will be held for family and friends, and flowers or condolences may be sent to 1875 FM 3056, Hawkins, TX 75765.
