Clara Louise Daboll Obituary

Clara H. Daboll, 88, of Middletown, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2023 at Wadsworth Glen Health Care & Rehabilitation Center. Born June 28, 1934 to Harold and Clara Hubbard, she spent her childhood growing up with her five siblings in Cobalt before graduating from East Hampton High School as a proud member of the Class of 1952.

She married her beloved husband, George M. Daboll, Jr. and they spent 43 memorable years together, raising their family in Portland before his passing in 1998. They enjoyed many adventures including boating, camping and poker runs on their motorcycle. Prior to her retirement, Clara was employed as an office manager at Elmcrest Psychiatric Hospital for 28 years.

She enjoyed spending time at the beach, watching John Wayne movies, listening to country music, and knitting. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society and a parishioner at Trinity Church in Portland. Most of all, she cherished her family and loved being known as “Toad”, “Grandma Apple” and “GiGi”.

Clara will be remembered by those who knew her best for her resilience, sense of humor and, in her own words, “I tell it like it is!”

She is survived by her daughter, Susan Brown; granddaughter, Sarah Brown and grandson, Nathaniel Brown. She is also survived by her son-in-law, Richard Parker; granddaughter, Mary Parker; and great grandchildren, Austin and Christian Parker. Also left to honor her memory are her wonderful sisters, Jeanette Knotek, Catherine Clough, Carol Potvin and Nancy Kossar, along with many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by three children, George M. Daboll, III, David Daboll and Diane Parker; her granddaughter, April Parker; brother, Eugene Hubbard; son-in-law, Lawrence Brown and dear mentor and friend, Betsey Regan.

The family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the nurses, caregivers and staff of Wadsworth Glen Health Care & Rehabilitation Center and Luther Ridge for the compassionate care they provided to Clara.

Funeral services will be private. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family. To share memories or send condolences to the family, please visit www.dolittlefuneralservice.com.
