Deborah Haygood Whitten

<p>Deborah Haygood Whitten, age 69 of Pine Mountain, GA, passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at her residence.</p><p><br></p><p>Mrs. Whitten was born September 26, 1953 in Atlanta, GA, the daughter of Robert Edward Haygood and Alma Jean Thrasher Haygood Harris. She was retired as a self-employed real estate agent. Mrs. Whitten's enthusiastic spirit and love of travel earned her the nickname "Road Runner" by her family and friends. She enjoyed traveling, spending time on the beach, being in the sun and going on cruises. Her interests were many but she especially enjoyed going junkin', searching for any treasure that might catch her eye, but always looking for another addition to her huge teapot collection. She loved spending time with all of her family, but was especially attentive to her adoring granddaughter ‘her lucky charm” Makenzlee, whom she lovingly called "MakMak”.</p><p><br></p><p>In addition to her parents, Mrs. Whitten was preceded in death by a grandson, Levi Whitten.</p><p><br></p><p>She is survived by her husband of forty-four years, Ed Whitten of Pine Mountain; a son and daughter, Shannon Whitten of Phenix City, AL, and Ivy (Adam) Pope of Pine Mountain; four grandchildren, Blade Whitten (Brittany), Anna Golick (Michael), Makenzlee "MacMac" Green, and Abel Pope; three great-grandchildren, Nick, Jackson and Emily; three sisters, Beverly Haygood Strickland of Buford, GA, Vickie Haygood Fox of Rex, GA, and Jan Haygood Chandler (Robert) of Monroe, GA. </p><p><br></p><p>A memorial service for Mrs. Whitten will be held at a later date.</p><p><br></p><p>Please click on the "Share A Memory" tab on this page to leave condolences or to share a special memory with the family.<br></p>
