Gary Marentette Obituary

Gary Alexander Marentette

July 10, 1943 – March 10, 2023

Our Captain has passed and we are heartbroken.

A dedicated husband and best friend to his wife Janet (nee McKenzie). The two met and began dating when both were students attending Kennedy Collegiate. The pair were inseparable during their 56 years of marriage. Together they have shown that their love had what it took to stand the test of time.

Selfless, dependable and proud father to Martha Forte (Dan), Nancy Schinkelshoek (Mike) and David Marentette (Christine). He lead by example with his kind, caring nature and showed his children how to make a positive mark on the people that cross their paths. His legacy lives on with his grandchildren Ashley, Tyler, Lola, Thanasi, Cameron, Gavin and great-grandchildren Saylor and River.

Strong big brother of Lanny Marentette (Elaine), Susan Irving (Jack) and Keith Marentette (Jennifer). Brother-in-law to Marlene and the late Don McKenzie. Survived by many nieces and nephews, Gary was loved deeply by many. He brought his family together often for fun, food and quality time.

After many years working as an executive with Piercell Merchandising, Gary formed Marentette & Company, an advertising agency in 1987. A consummate professional and mentor to many, Gary was well respected and was always willing to share his knowledge.

The family is extremely appreciative of the support and exceptional care provided by Gary’s many PSWs and the ICU medical staff at Windsor Regional Met Campus.

He will forever be in the hearts of those fortunate to have known him. A Celebration of Life will be held later this summer at his special place, “the cottage”. Until then, “au revoir”.
