Kristy Nicole Garcia-Brito

Kristy N. Garcia-Brito, 24, of Bridgewater, NJ, passed away on Friday, March 10, 2023. Born in New Brunswick, NJ, Kristy spent most of her life in Middlesex before moving to Bridgewater in September of 2021.

Kristy graduated from Newark High School in Delaware, Class of 2016 after having lived there for a brief year but was always a Bluejay at heart. She then went on to study at Middlesex Community College where she obtained her associate degree in biology and then transferred to Rutgers University and graduated with her degree in Microbiology and a minor in Public Health. She would have walked for her diploma this spring of 2023. Throughout her education career (both secondary and university) she worked various jobs to cover any expenses she encountered. She worked at the Middlesex Public Library since she was 16 as a circulation staff member (to this day). She was involved in a research study at the Hackensack Meridian Health JFK Medical center in 2018 where it became published in a medical journal. After these two jobs, she accepted a job at Johnson & Johnson as a Project Coordinator and even took up a part-time job at the Pandora Jewelry store at Bridgewater Commons Mall. Her last, and most recent job was at RWJ University Hospital where she worked as a Clinical Care Technician that floated through many floors of the hospital and helped even more people than imaginable.

Kristy was very active, she played soccer throughout high school as well as basketball and track her freshman year. She was also shortly apart of the Gymnastics Club at Rutgers. She volunteered with Kindred Hospice in Piscataway from 2014 to 2017. Kristy was also an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Rutgers University in Dr. White’s Laboratory.

Kristy was an avid reader and loved to travel, she just came back late last year after backpacking through Europe with a best friend for three weeks. Her favorite country was Spain. Aside from international travels, Kristy loved to spend her time visiting the Jersey Shore and even wanted to live in New York City within the next couple of years. In her free time, she enjoyed shooting billiards and building complex puzzles. Most importantly, Kristy enjoyed spending quality time with her family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, her great-grandmother, Maria Gomero, and a beloved cousin, Christopher Koll.

Kristy is survived by her mother, Maria Pineda with her husband Dennis Pineda of Bridgewater, NJ; her sisters, Annabella and Emely Garcia of Middlesex, NJ; a niece, Sophia Wojciechowski-Garcia of Bridgewater, NJ. Several aunts, uncles, and cousins close to her and her two canine daughters, Milady and Isa. They were not just dogs, Milady and Isa meant the world to her, and will greatly miss their mother.

A viewing will be held on Friday, March 17, 2023, from 4-8pm at the Branchburg Funeral Home 910 RT. 202 South, Branchburg, NJ 08876.

A second viewing will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2023, from 10am-11am at the Branchburg Funeral Home with a prayer service beginning at 10:45am. A burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Somerset, NJ.
