Joseph T. Canney, Jr.

<p>Mr. Joseph “Joey” Thomas Canney, Jr., age 74, died in Stuart, Florida on February 9, 2023 at the Hay-Madeira Harper Hospice House. He was the beloved husband of Maureen E. Twomey with whom he shared 24 years of marriage.</p><p><br></p><p>Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Joseph T. and Josephine C. (Barr) Canney. Mr. Canney was a long-time auto body teacher in vocational schools in Boston, Everett, and Woonsocket, RI. Joey loved boats and power boating, he spent many happy hours in the waters around Boston Harbor and Martha’s Vineyard. He was the past Commodore of the Port Norfolk Yacht Club in Boston and a past member of Point Independence Yacht Club in Onset, Massachusetts.</p><p><br></p><p>Besides his wife, he is survived by his brothers; Paul Canney and his wife Kimberly, Stephen Canney and his wife Joyce, sisters; Lee Crocker and her husband Richard, Lynn McElaney and her husband Paul. Mr. Canney was the brother of the late Craig Canney. Joey is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.</p><p><br></p><p>In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Hay-Madeira and Harper House, Inpatient Care Units, 1000 Ruhnke Street, Stuart, FL 34994.</p><p><br></p><p>SERVICE INFORMATION</p><p>Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours in the Bisbee-Porcella Funeral Home, 549 Lincoln Ave., SAUGUS, on Monday, March 20, from 4-7 p.m. A funeral will be held from the funeral home on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 250 Revere Street, Revere at 10 a.m.</p><p><br></p><p></p>
