Henry George Vit Jr. DMD was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey on May 20, 1942. He died after a long battle with cancer at his home in Happy Valley, Oregon on March 1, 2023.

Henry enlisted in the Air Force after high school. After Goose Bay Labrador, the Portland Airbase was nirvana. He hunted and fished in his adopted state for the next sixty years.

He graduated from his beloved University of Portland in 1969 and OHSU School of Dentistry in 1973. He practiced dentistry in The Dalles, Oregon for thirty three years.

Henry met Sally Tyrrell when she was a nursing student and he was in dental school. They were married for 49 years.

Survivors include his wife Sally, daughter Jessica Vit Anderson, son Aaron Vit, son in law Shawn Anderson and brother Stanton Vit. He was a devoted Grandpa to Ranier Anderson.

Private interment with military honors will be at Willamette National Cemetery. A celebration of life will be at a later date.
