<p>On June 20, 1928, a beautiful baby girl was born in St. Landry Parish, Morrow, Louisiana to Leola Ellis and Sam Picket Green. They Named her Emily Ellis. She was one of three siblings: Esther Smith, La Marque, Texas, and Jerry Green, Crosby, Texas.</p><p><br></p><p>She was taught the golden rules and the core values of treating people like you would want to be treated and with God nothing shall be impossible. Jesus being the focal point in her home, she was taught the love of Jesus Christ. She gave her life to Christ at a youthful age and was baptized at St. Luke Baptist Church, Morrow, Louisiana.</p><p><br></p><p>Emily moved to Houston, Texas and was followed by her love Vergus Roosevelt Rue. During this time, they were united in Holy Wedlock on May 25, 1947. Then they moved to La Marque, Texas, and to this union five children were born.</p><p><br></p><p>Emily life was centered around her family, friends, and all the Churches in the La Marque area. She joined with Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church, follow by Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, Pastor S. A. Anderson, La Marque, Texas; before moving to California where she joined Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, Pastor G. G. Griffin, and then North Richmond Missionary Baptist Church, Pastor C.W. Newsome, Richmond, California. Upon returning to Texas, reunited with Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church, Pastor D. N. Benford Sr., Texas City, Texas. She was actively serving our Lord in all the Churches in Texas City, La Marque, and Hitchcock, Texas area, especially Greater St. Matthew Baptist Church every Sunday Morning from Brotherhood to Sunday School to the Services under Pastor William Randall, Hitchcock, Texas; before leaving to attend services at Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church. She served actively in the Mission, Ushers, Sunday School, Baptist Training Union, Brotherhood, Girls Auxiliary (GA), Vacation Bible Schools, Bible Study Ministries, and her community.</p><p><br></p><p>Emily finished school at Morrow Colored School, May 16, 1946, Morrow, Louisiana, then she moved to Houston, Texas, to further her education attending Franklin Business School, Houston, Texas for key punch operator. She attended Southwestern Business University, Houston, Texas; Mainland Hospital and College of the Mainland for LVN Certification, La Marque, Texas; College of Alameda, Alameda, California, Contra Costa College, San Pablo, California, and University of Berkley for degree in Teaching, Berkley, California.</p><p><br></p><p>Emily started her work experience cleaning Caucasian homes, Kuhl’s Catering Services, NASA Johnson Space Center, Mainland Hospital, La Marque, Texas, and Berkley Unified School District, Berkley, California from which she retired as a teacher. After retiring, she continued to volunteer and assisted the teachers with their classes at Mainland Preparatory Academy till her health begin to fail her.</p><p><br></p><p>At 9:38 p.m. on Monday, February 27, 2023, at Gamble’s Assisted Living Home, Emily gained her wings to be with our Lord, Savior, Jesus Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Nadine Yvonne Rue, husbands, Vergus Roosevelt Rue, Robert Adams Sr., and Sylvon Greene Frank, and grandson Jason Paul Rue.</p><p><br></p><p>Mourning her departure, yet cherishing her memories her children, Juanita Rue Woodfox (Nathaniel Jr.), Paul Joseph Rue (Cynthia), John Adam Rue, and Princella Rue; grandchildren, James Roosevelt Rue (Jacqueline), Many Huesso, Ivan Joseph Rue, and Jsherne’ Darice Robertson; nine great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; four loving godchildren, Mildred Nash Simmons, Elaine Booth, Kassandra F. Simmons, and Rachel Green Horton, and her legacy of five generations of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, her Church families, and many friends.</p><p><br></p><p>Emily Ellis Rue Adams will be remembered and greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Our gratitude of Thanks to Gamble Assisted Living Home’s employees, Choice Amed Hospice’s Nurses and Doctors, UTMB’s Dr, Michelle Mercatante, UTMB’s Nurses and Doctors, Jessie with Meals on Wheels, Greater St. Matthew Baptist Church’s Deacons, Deaconess, members, and Ministers, Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church’s Mission, Officers, Lincoln’s Eagles and friends.</p>
