Michael L. Henry Sr.

Michael Lee Henry, 78, of  Hummelstown, unexpectedly passed away on Saturday, March 11, 2023 in his home. He was born November 13, 1944 in Newport, a son of the late Osbert and Miriam Henry.  He was also preceded in death by his son, Michael L. Henry, Jr.

Mr. Henry was a canine police officer and retired as a Sergeant for the City of Harrisburg. After retirement, he was a bus driver and instructor for Capital Area Transit. Mr. Henry was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. He enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling to his favorite places like Disneyworld and Myrtle Beach, watching each of his grandchildren in their numerous activities, Pittsburgh Steelers football, and his truck.

Surviving is his wife, Rita M. (Kmecak) Henry; daughter, Jennifer Gates and husband, Ronald; six grandchildren, Erica Henry, Lindsey, Elaina and Ronald Gates, Samantha and Zachary Henry; three sisters, Patricia, Diane and Colleen Henry; as well as several nieces & nephews.

A visitation will be held Saturday, March 18, 2023 from 9:30 am to 11:00 am immediately followed by a funeral service in the Hoover Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., in Hershey. Interment will be in the Hummelstown Cemetery.
