Vilda Soprona Thompson Obituary

Vilda Thompson, affectionately known as Mousie and Aunty Vilda, was born on March 15th 1944. She was the first born of Alpheus and Ianthe Roxton, and the Matriarch of the family.

In 1961 she met and married the love of her life, Cecil Thompson, also known as "Finga". They had five children, Phyllis, Phillip, Sandra, Bisson, and Sirano. At the young age of 27 her husband lost his life due to a tragic car accident. Vilda was left to fend for her family on her own. She never dated or remarried, as her main focus was the protection of her children.

Vilda was a seamstress by profession, but she also loved to bake. Her skills allowed her to provide financially for her family. She migrated to America in the early 80's and lived in New York. She sponsored and brought her children to the states. She then moved to Florida in 1987, where she purchased her home and settled in close proximity to her sister Bethetia, "Aunty Betty" and the rest of her relatives.

Vilda was passionate about spending time with her gigantic family, having fun gatherings, cooking, chatting up a storm, laughing, and simply enjoying life. She loved watching Bollywood movies and reading books. She continued to keep her family close and was grateful for the time and memories she was able to share with them.

For many years Vilda studied the Bible on and off with her sister Marie. She learned and appreciated the Bible's truth about God's hope for mankind.

Aunty Vilda was loved as a mother by a multitude of people, beyond her five children. She had an unwavering bond with her siblings and so many of her relatives. Her door was always open and she wholeheartedly welcomed many into her life.

Vilda Soprona Thompson is survived by her five children and their families and other loving family members:

Phyllis, Gary, Alex and Brittani.

Phillip Sr., Phillip Jr., and Andrew.

Sandra, Jerry, Arian, and Joshua.

Bisson, Peter, Tyler, Christian.

And her Baby, Sirano.

She is survived by all of her great grandchildren: Jeanette, McKai, Elijah, Eden, Alana and Aliah, whom she adored. Her brother Donald, sisters, Maggie, Marie, and Annie. Nieces, nephews, and many other relatives, in laws, and friends. She loved them all as her own, and they loved her so much in return. Her love and kindness will never be forgotten. She will be sorely missed.
