<p>On Tuesday, March 7, 2023, the community lost Edward Wielgus (61) in a tragic car<br> accident near his home in Fort McCoy, Florida.<br> Ed was born in Poland in a horse drawn wagon on August 23rd, 1961 and immigrated<br> to the United States when he was 5 years old. He grew up in Cleveland, Ohio and<br> graduated from Normandy High School in 1979. During this time Ed tore down and<br> rebuilt his Dodge Charger, a project that would kick off a life-long love of working with<br> his hands.<br> Those that knew Ed would agree that he was always working on a project. Whether it<br> was installing a deck, tiling a shower, or renovating an entire house; Ed loved breathing<br> new life into old spaces.<br> One of the only things that Ed took more pride in than his work were his two sons,<br> Christopher and Eddie. Both have fond memories of their childhood tree forts, swings,<br> and skateboard ramps thanks to the hard work and love Ed provided. Ed became a<br> grandfather 7 years ago and was cherished by his grandchildren.<br> Ed is survived by his mother, Stella, brothers Joseph and Richard, sister Christine, sons<br> Christopher and Eddie and their families, and his long-time partner Kathy Werner along<br> with her family.<br> One of Ed’s final projects was the renovation and rehab of he and Kathy’s three Lake<br> Kerr properties in Salt Springs, Florida. Loved ones will be scattering Ed’s ashes during<br> a private ceremony at this location so that Ed can enjoy the fruits of his labor.<br> Celebration of Life services to be held in Salt Springs, Florida at a future date. In lieu of<br> flowers, the family would prefer a small donation to be made to the GoFundMe ‘Ed<br> Wielgus Memorial’ to help with final expenses. </p>August 23, 1961 - March 7, 202308/23/196103/07/2023
