Diana L. Atkinson, 85 of Glen Carbon, Illinois passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2023 at her home with her family by her side.

Diana was born on September 9, 1937 in Dallas, Oregon; the daughter of the late Joe J. and Alma G. (Zentz) Luthe Jr. Diana had worked for Reese’s Drug Store in Granite City and was baptized into the Lutheran faith as a young girl. Diana’s favorite pastimes were bowling and playing bingo. Most of all she loved to spend time with her family and will be remembered for all the special times they shared together.

Diana is survived by and will be missed by her husband; Larry Atkinson, whom she married on October 5, 1985; children, Dan and Terri Hillberry of Eureka, Missouri, John Hillberry of Collinsville, Illinois, Bob and Ann Dietrich of Glen Carbon, Illinois, Larry and Linda Atkinson Jr. of Maryville, Illinois, Nancy Berry of Olympia, Washington; grandchildren, Beth Ann, Sarah, Rachel, Ethan, Noah, Jim, Kelly, Aaron; 9 great-grandchildren; brother, Mike and many other close family members and friends.

In addition to her parents, Diana was preceded in death by her daughters; Julie Dietrich, Cathy Baker; brothers, Ken, Nick.

In celebration of Diana’s life, visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral services at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor John Shank officiating at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road in Glen Carbon. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon. Memorial donations are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Shriners Children’s Hospital.
