Virginia C. Baltic, Age 84, of Fairfax, Virginia, formerly of Pennsylvania, passed away on February 25, 2023.

Virginia is survived by her nieces, Patricia Urban (Edward Schortman), Mary (Jeff) Weinert, Sophie Herter, Karen (Fred) Kahn, Leslie (Malek) Francis, and by her nephews, Michael Urban (Elizabeth Cronin), George (Ivana) Baltic, and Steven Baltic. She is also survived by eight great-nieces and great-nephews and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Mary Baltic, and by her six siblings, Nellie Urban, Sophie Herter, Olga, Charles, George, and Nancy Baltic.

Virginia received a Bachelor of Science from the University of Pittsburgh, a Master of Arts in Education from Arizona State University and a Doctorate in Education from Columbia University. Virginia worked in higher education in New York, volunteered for the Peace Corps in Liberia, and later worked in the insurance industry in Pennsylvania.

Virginia was a devoted daughter who took care of her mother in her last years.

The most important thing to be said about Virginia is that she was always herself. She did not conform to society’s view of what a woman should be, or to conventional norms of the time. In doing so, she undoubtedly helped many younger generations.

She will be missed.

A Private Celebration of Life Service will be held for immediate family.
