Phyllis Johnson

<p>Phyllis June Johnson, 77, of Francesville, IN passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2023 at her home. She was born on July 20, 1945 in Biloxi, MS to the late Luther and Kathleen [Roberson] Coomer. In 1963, Phyllis graduated from Frankfort High School in Frankfort, IN. She attended Olivet Nazarene College in Bourbonnais, IL. On November 25, 1967, she married James M. Johnson in Frankfort. </p><p><br></p><p>Early on, Phyllis worked at Sealy in Rensselaer, IN before becoming a daycare provider in Francesville. Her medical career started at Parkview Haven Retirement Home where she worked as a QMA. She retired as an LPN after nearly 30 years of helping and caring for others. In addition to working at Parkview Haven, she also worked at several area nursing homes. </p><p><br></p><p>Phyllis was a devoted member of the Winamac Church of the Nazarene where she taught Sunday school, VBS, and Children’s church. For many years, she was a local Girl Scout Leader.</p><p><br></p><p>She enjoyed reading, sewing, and spoiling her grandchildren. Phyllis was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. </p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p>She is survived by:</p><p><br></p><p>James M. (Jennifer) Johnson, Francesville, IN Son</p><p><br></p><p>13 Grandchildren</p><p><br></p><p>8 Great Grandchildren</p><p><br></p><p>Faye Coomer, Rockville, IN Sister</p><p><br></p><p>Melvin Coomer, Terre Haute, IN Brother</p><p><br></p><p>Several Nieces and Nephews</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p>Preceded in death by:</p><p><br></p><p>Luther and Kathleen [Roberson] Coomer, Parents</p><p><br></p><p>Charles Coomer, Brother</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p>Visitation will be from 5-8 PM EDT Thursday, March 16, 2023 at Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel in Francesville, IN.</p><p><br></p><p>Visitation will be from 10-11 AM EDT Friday, March 17, 2023 at Winamac Church of the Nazarene in Winamac, IN.</p><p><br></p><p>Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM EDT Friday, March 17, 2023 at Winamac Church of the Nazarene in Winamac, IN with Pastor Martin Burns officiating. </p><p><br></p><p>Graveside Services will be held at 3 PM EDT Friday, March 17, 2023 at Roseland Cemetery in Francesville, IN with Pastor Rodney Johnson officiating.</p><p><br></p><p>Burial will take place at Roseland Cemetery in Francesville, IN.</p><p><br></p><p>Memorial Contributions may be made to Winamac Church of the Nazarene. </p><p><br></p><p>Online Tributes may be offered at www.frainmortuary.com.</p><p><br></p><p>Arrangements have been entrusted to Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel in Francesville, IN.</p>
