Obituary

Sadly, our beloved mother, sister and aunt, Pearl Griffiths has passed on. She was preceded in death by her lovely parents, William and Mary Griffiths and sisters, Lydia Frazier and Gwendolyn Denham.

Young Pearl attended Broadleaf All-age school, Wright Academy where she excelled in her studies. She then completed her education at Kingston College. Pearl worked in early childhood education, then joined the Jamaica Omni- Bus Service (J.O.S.) Transportation Company as a conductor where she worked for many years.

In 1993, she migrated to the United States to join her sisters in the Cincinnati area. Ms. Pearl worked in the healthcare/private duty field for many years while also working at the Harmony Courts Nursing Home.

Of all her ventures and experiences spending time with her large family was one of her favorite things. She was the third eldest of the Griffiths girls. She was very proud and often reminded everyone, she had all the friendship she needed from her many sisters.

Her sisters, Lydia, Ethel, Girlie, Daphne, Joyce, Peggy, Madge and Petal are her whole world. She loved them beyond words and would reflect on their times growing up and sharing many great and eventful stories about them all.

She loved plants and nature and was an excellent horticulturist with a very green thumb. Her love of the written word made her an extensive reader and a lifelong student. She took great pride in expanding her knowledge and vocabulary.

If you had the honor to meet, know or love, or be loved by our beloved Pearl, you will never forget her. She was one of the kindest most genuine people to grace this earth. Though sometimes harsh in her delivery, but it came from all love.

There wasn’t a day when she wasn’t authentic and giving to not just her loved ones, but to anyone she saw in need. She was baptized in the name of Jesus, gave her life to the Lord and lived each day to be a good person according to the Word.

Pearl leaves behind to carry on her memory and legacy: her daughters, Lola Demetrius and Georgia Freeman; grand-sons, Shakurrey Demetrius, Daezan Freeman and Denver Freeman; son-in-law, Damion Freeman, Sr.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
