Marcia Kathleen Overley Obituary

Marcia Overley passed away peacefully March 6th, 2023. She was an incredibly confident and motivated woman. She could do anything, or she'd figure it out. Always on the run, she was a force! She had a marvelous sense of humor and laughed a lot. She loved Elvis, classic country, hymns and Christmas music. She was a lady in every way, yet she was a tough, outdoors woman as well.

Marcia Kathleen Knox was born April 12, 1943, in Jackson Michigan. She was the second daughter born to Norman Clay Knox and Elaine Jeanette Christensen. She has one sister, Norma Jean Knox Scibetta, Star Valley AZ. Her childhood

in Michigan was centered around family, Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles and eight cousins that she grew up with. When she was 11, her parents moved the family to Mesa AZ. There she turned into a horse woman. Her parents owned a riding stable to rent horses out. She and Norma Jean belonged to a riding club, the Rocking M Saddle Club. When she wasn't horseback, she was into Archery and raising 4H calves. She met her husband Gail L. Overley at the Drag Races, he was driving a car and was in the pit coming out from under his car when he first laid eyes on her. He gave her a slow once over and decided right then that he was going to marry her one day.

She graduated from Mesa High School in May 1961, and was married on December 15, 1961. As an incredible team, they began their marriage working hard in the pump truck business they bought from Gail's Uncle Oley Overley. It was very hard work; pumping septic tanks, car washes and cleaning grease traps, etc. Marcia did the dispatching, books, office duties, Gail worked the pumping jobs and maintained the trucks and equipment. They later changed the focus to hazardous waste and grew the Overley's Pumping business exponentially.

For many years she raised and showed appaloosa horses, occasionally giving riding lessons. They had a love for Rottweilers, they had many beautiful dogs over the years.

Our family enjoyed many winter vacations to Greer with her sister's family. Every year, the week between Christmas and New Years. Many good memories are engraved in each heart of all involved. Dad and Mom enjoyed each other very much on these trips, time away from the business was golden.

Baptized in the Mormon Church in 1981. Marcia and Gail were married and sealed in the Temple on December 15th, 1982, their 20th wedding anniversary. She loved the church and served as the Cannery Head in the Gilbert Ward (Elliott) before moving to San Tan Valley.

Sadly, in 1996, Gail passed away suddenly from a massive heart attack while on the job. With her can-do spirit, she pulled herself up by her bootstraps and took on the job of managing the trucking business, finances, a crew of male employees and the customers.

In her later years she got into British White cattle raising and grew a small herd. She hauled cattle from the valley up to her ranch in Alpine every summer, to get them out of the heat, and then back again to the valley for the winter. They are snowbird British Whites! She was very active in promoting the breed and showed her British Whites several times in Arizona and out of state.

Leaving us just shy of her 80th birthday, Marcia is survived by her only sibling, Norma Jean Scibetta, her four children, Marci, Abby, Garth and his wife Denise, Ashley and her husband Pierre Hodgson. She also leaves ten grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

The world is a sadder place without Marcia in our lives. She touched each and everyone of us, leaving us with memories we will cherish forever.
