With extreme sorrow, we join the Simmons Family in announcing the death of Sylvia Marie Cox Simmons, 86, of the Pleasant Hill Community, New Bern, who departed this life on Monday, March 13, 2023.

Sylvia will be forever cherished by: two loving daughters, Thalia D. Burt (William) and Subrena E. Davis (Carlton); five Grandchildren; two Great-Grandchildren; six sisters, Estell Dessaure (William) of St. Stephens, South Carolina, Rubell Bennet of Freeport, New York, Clemmie Debrew (Robert) of Hempstead, New York, Maggie Cox of Vanceboro, Peggy Davis of New Bern, Dorothy Franklin of Vanceboro and DeVicky Whitfield (Clifton) of Greenville; two sisters-in-law, Alfreda Collins (Charles) and Mary Cox of Vanceboro; and a host of very special nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and dear friends.

* MASK WILL BE REQUIRED FOR ENTERY INTO THE FUNERAL HOME ON FRIDAY AND SATURDAY FOR BOTH THE VIEWING AND FUNERAL SERVICE.

The Service Honoring A Life Well Lived for Sylvia Marie Cox Simmons will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at 11:00 AM from within the Memorial Sanctuary of Rivers-Morgan Funeral Home, Inc. and Cremations, 701 West St., New Bern. Interment will follow the Service in New Bern Memorial Cemetery, 1112 Chelsea Rd., the Trent Woods Community, New Bern.
