Betty Jo Taylor Obituary

Betty Jo (Sergerson) Taylor, 87, went peacefully to be with her Lord on March 5, 2023, in Kerrville.

She was born on March 18, 1935, in Union City, Tennessee to Woodrow and Julia Sergerson. Betty graduated from Oswego Community High School on May 29, 1952, in Oswego, Illinois.

On Sept. 04, 1953, in Oswego, she married the love of her life, Roy Taylor. They had three children, Teresa, David, and Sherri, that she dedicated her life to be a great wife, mother, and homemaker for her family. Roy was a Senior Master Sergeant in the Air Force with this taking the family to several military bases to live in the US.

When the children were younger the family loved to camp. In her free time, Betty spent time gardening, sewing, and baking. Betty even worked at Wall Drug Store & Bakery in the bakery department for a little while and enjoyed the time spent there. After Roy retired, they became snowbirds spending time between South Dakota and Texas. In 1984, they moved to San Antonio to live permanently to take advantage of the military hospital for Roy’s medical needs. After his passing in June 1986, Betty decided to stay in Texas and even talked her daughters, Teresa, and Sherri into moving there too. Betty discovered a love of traveling; taking an Alaska cruise, even did a couple of bus tours and vacations at the beach. She loved shopping trips and lunches with the girls.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roy; and granddaughter, Jennifer Taylor.

Betty is survived by her sister, Linda Beahm and husband, Don of Boise, ID; children, Teresa Lopez and husband George of Kerrville, David Taylor and wife Diana of Pooler, GA and Sherri Taylor of San Antonio; grandchildren, Tom Jenkins (Jane) of Sahuarita, AZ, Mike Jenkins (Holly) of Oklahoma City, OK, Raymond Taylor of Savannah, GA, Michelle Taylor of Hinesville, GA and Shane Taylor of San Antonio; bonus grandchildren, Paul Lopez (Anita) of Fredericksburg, Lisa Wright (Bryan) of Newport, NC, Matt Lopez of Kerrville, and Jana Cosby (David) Richlands, NC; 7 great grandchildren; nephews, Butch Beahm (Peggy) and Allen Beahm (Diana); also several great nieces and nephews.
