Dean Edward Alexander Obituary

Dean E. Alexander, 69, of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at home surrounded by his family, which was his final request. He was born on May 10, 1953, the son of Jack Vernon Alexander and Madeyln Jean (Crooks) Alexander.


Dean graduated from Battle Creek Central High School with the Class of 1971. Before graduating he started working at Springfield Auto Service for his uncle in 1967. In 1974, Dean had the honor of working for his Father at General Foods for over 20 years in Building 29 and then finished in Shipping and Receiving which he loved until his retirement. He married the love of his life, Carol Dilsaver in 1971 and the two have spent the last 51 wonderful years together. Dean was a member of the Battle Creek Balsa Bees, where he enjoyed flying and building airplanes. His love for planes developed at a very young age. Dean loved to race RC cars many times during the week with his brother and friends. He also enjoyed his frequent visits to JT Hobby and seeing Jerry and Mary Merritt. Once or twice a year, Dean and Carol traveled to Maggie Valley, North Carolina, a place they absolutely loved and where he and his son Brian will be laid to rest. Dean loved to be outdoors. He enjoyed taking prestige care of his yard, going on walks, riding motorcycles especially his Harleys with Carol.


Dean is survived by his wife, Carol (Dilsaver) Alexander; children, Brandy (Daniel) Alexander-George, Billy Alexander; grandchildren, Jacob (Skyler) Alexander, Cameron (Shelby Brooks) Alexander; great-grandchildren, Marlee Reed, Aubrey George, Asher Alexander, Avery Alexander; brothers, Mark (Tammy) Alexander, Robert (April "Sue") Alexander and his beloved cat companion, Oreo. He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Vernon Alexander; mother, Madeyln Jean Alexander; son in February of 2022, Brian Robert Alexander and special cousin, Tammy Crooks.


A memorial service will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at 3:00 pm with David and Damaris Thompson officiating.
