Edward Lawrence Stallworth, Jr. Obituary

To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven. (Eccl. 3:1)

Edward Lawrence Stallworth Jr. 74, completed his earthly assignment on March 11, 2023. He was born in Middletown, OH on November 15, 1948 to the late Edward L. Stallworth, Sr. and Juanita (Harris) Stallworth Stollings. Edward was a veteran of the United States Army and received an honorable discharge.  He retired after many years of service from Sinclair Community College.

He was preceded in death by wife and mother of his children, Barbara (Simpson) Stallworth; daughter, Delicias Stallworth; son, Eric D. Collins; sister, Sherrie (Stallworth) Hall; grandson, Clyde Johnson Taylor; mother-in-law, Anita D. Moore (Nita Mo); stepbrother and stepsister James Moore and Vickey Stollings and best friend, Bobby Grimes.

Edward was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and friend to all that knew him.  But mostly he was a wonderful dad - even to his fur babies Bluu and Pooter whom we sometimes joked about him loving them more than us.  “Eddy” as he was affectionately known by, loved and adored his family.  He was always taking pictures; he captured thousands of precious moments.

He enjoyed sitting in his garage listening to “God’s Orchestra” which was the peaceful natures of his surroundings.  Fellowshipping every chance he could and singing tenor with his choir was his passion.  Other than family that’s what kept him going.  A dignified man of conduct, he took pride in everything he did, from his signature hats to his gator boots and good smelling cologne.  He was a man full of integrity, who always taught his children that doing the right thing behind closed doors is just as important as doing them when not.  A no nonsense kind of man; he was a straight shooter right to the point.  If he said it then he meant it.  He was like an open book, more like a walking book of truth and knowledge.  Most definitely in a class by himself and that doesn’t imply that he was alone.  A loner he was but never alone.  God was his companion – Always.

Eddy will be truly missed but his memory will never perish.  Survived by his loving and devoted wife of 23 years, Dowana L. Stallworth (Wana Mo); son, Edward D. Stallworth, Sr.; daughters, Dequita and D’Antoinette Simpson, Cassandra Johnson, Gail Fitzgeral (Lemanuel), DeToshia Stallworth, Dowan Moore and LaStanna Wilson; brothers, Andre’ Stallworth (Joanne) and Richard Stollings; sisters, Anita Lewis (Marty), Lily Welborne (Johnny) and Louise Spicer (Gerry); caring and special aunt, Janie Harris.

Edward was the grandfather and great-grandfather of a multitude of precious grandchildren:  grandchildren, DeMarcus Norvell, Edward Stallworth, Jr., Saniyah Morgan, De’Era and Dynasti Collings, Ashley Melvin, Brandon Moreland, Kyera Taylor, Dearra Jones and Dynasty Hunter; great grandchildren, Kylin, Charlei, Ava and Chloe Johnson, DeZign & Denim Norvell and Ja’Vail Henderson; brother-in-law and best friend, Evans Moore (Monty Mo); close friends, George McFarland, Leroy Hardeman, Craig Cunningham, Greg Cooper, Voices of Fellowship Choir, and his fellowship group.  Edward was a friend and uncle to many.  Just know he loved us all.
