Sarah Ellen Phillips, born to Berneice Metz and Ed Thompson on July 15, 1944, passed away peacefully from this earth on March 13, 2023, at the age of 78 in Joplin, Missouri.

She is survived by a daughter, Shelley Wiley (spouse of William David Wiley) of Carthage, Missouri, and George Ray II, (spouse of Sandy Ray) of Pryor, Oklahoma. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Thomas Phillips and her daughter, Lori (Ray) Hanks. Sarah raised her granddaughter and namesake, Sara Lara, of Joplin, Missouri, who survives. Sarah is also survived by four other grandchildren, Virginia Eddins (spouse of Levi Eddins), Alba, Missouri, Sean Ray, Pryor, Oklahoma, Kelly Wiley, Carthage, Missouri, and Matthew Ray, Olathe, Kansas, and three great grandchildren.

Memorial visitation will be help Friday March 17, 2023, 6:00-7:00 pm at Mason-Woodard Mortuary.

Donations may be made to the Joplin Humane Society in lieu of flowers.
