Kory Lynn Ritchie Obituary

Kory Lynn Ritchie 46, passed away Sunday March 12, at his home. Funeral services will be held Friday March 17, at 10am, at Broadview Baptist Church located at 2500 S. 27th St Abilene TX. With Rev. David Cason officiating. Internment will follow at Throckmorton Cemetery in Throckmorton TX. Visitation will be held Thursday March 16, from 6-8pm at North's Funeral Home located at 242 Orange St. Abilene TX.

Kory was born March 8, 1977 in Abilene, Texas to Glyn & Darlene Ritchie.

Kory participated in Scouts, played baseball and football and was a member of the Cooper Cougar Band. He graduated from Cooper High School in 1995. Shortly thereafter, he began what would become his life-long love for dirt, at Bontke Brothers Construction. He stayed there roughly 20 years before venturing on to the other aspects of dirt work and road construction. He drove a truck with his brother Kent for Statewide, then worked as the loaderman at the View hotmix plant for Vulcan before joining Taylor County and finally his dream job as an Engineering Inspector for the City of Abilene.

Kory met Melissa Buerger, of Haskell, in 2007. They were married in 2009 and lived happily together. In 2020 they were blessed by the birth of their son Kutter. Kory loved to cook- inside or out, smoke or fire, you name it, he loved it! He enjoyed letting Kutter "hep" him every chance he got too, whether it was mowing the yard or starting a fire, Kutter loved "hepping" his Dada!. Kory also enjoyed "underestimating the wetness factor" while running trotlines with cousins, dove and frog hunting at the farm and fishing the coast with Skipper.
Kory loved all those close to him and whether it was 5 minutes or 5 months since you talked to him, he could pick up just like he'd been there the whole time!

Kory was preceded in death by: Grandparents Willie & Juanita Harrington, 2nd "Dad," Eddie "Hippie" Kotrlik, brother Kent, nephew Konner, 2 aunts, 2 uncles and nephew and a cousin.

Left to cherish his memories are Wife Melissa Ritchie, son Kutter Ritchie, parents Glyn & Darlene Ritchie, 2nd "Mom" Barbara Kotrlik, brother Kevin Ritchie and wife Cindy, Sister-in-law Alicia Ritchie, brother Kevin Allen "Playboy", brother Marcos Magee "Polo," nieces Paige Ritchie and Jaycee Ritchie, nephews Karson Ritchie and Klayton Ritchie, Father & Mother-in-law Fritz & Jerri Buerger, Sister-in-law Monica Langford, Brother-in-law Michael Buerger and wife Shelby, nephews Liam Langford and Eli Langford and niece Brae Lynn Buerger and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
