Robert Walter Sieborg, age 92, the son of Walter E. and Ingeborg (Asklund) Sieborg, was born April 14, 1928 in Omaha, Nebraska. He passed away December 5, 2020 in Omaha, Nebraska.He is survived by his children: Brett Sieborg (Lori), Susan Gochanour (David), Steven Kurtz (Mindi); son-in-law, Nelson Smith; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; mother of his children, Betty Sieborg; loving pet cat, Miss Mittens; other relatives and many friends. Preceded in death by his parents: Walter E. and Ingeborg Sieborg; wife, Carol Sieborg; stepdaughter, Susan Smith.FUNERAL SERVICE 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Open viewing 10:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Interment with Military Honors at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Nebraska Humane Society, American Red Cross or Wounded Warrior Project.Robert W. Sieborg was born in Omaha, Nebraska on April 14, 1928. He was the only son of Walter Emmanuel and Ingeborg Eleonora (Asklund) Sieborg.Although he was an only child, he grew up in a big family which included two aunts, and his five cousins and two special cousins: Nancy and Gilbert. There were relatives living close by and Bob had plenty of playmates.Bob was always outgoing and friendly and had many friends by the time he attended Benson High School. Bob was still attending a BHS 49er Coffee Club, as late as 2017. In 1983 Bob was inducted into Benson High School Hall of Fame.Bob is a Veteran of the Korean War, serving in the US Army as an infantry man; and was later called to the US Air Force where he was a MP, serving alongside the French Foreign Legion in Morocco. He later belonged to a Moroccan Veterans reunion group that met in different locations throughout the United States. He served as their president for one year, hosting the group in Omaha.Following his military service, Bob joined the Omaha Police Department on January 7, 1949, serving the City of Omaha until retiring as a Sergeant on January 6, 1984. He went on to work in the Douglas County Attorney's Office as a Special Investigator for 9 more years before retiring to "relax".Bob married Betty (North) on January 20, 1956. They welcomed two children: Brett Randall and Susan (Susie) Beth. Bob and Betty later divorced.Bob later married Carol (Anderson) Kurtz in April 1981. Carol had two children from a prior marriage, Steven Richard and Susan Carol, who also joined the family.Bob leaves to mourn his former wife and friend, Betty Sieborg; his son, Brett and wife, Lori (Caskey) and their children: Jordan, Branden, Taylor, Maecyn; Susie and husband, David Gochanour, and their children: Sydne, Claire, Amber; Steven Kurtz and wife, Mindi and their children Megan, Matt; and son-in-law, Nelson Smith and his children: Michael, Mykala, Jacquline, .
