Robert Anthony Bruns, Jr., age 84, the son of Robert Anthony Sr. and Goldie Alma (Young) Bruns, was born December 6, 1932 in Dayton, Kentucky. He passed away May 16, 2017 at the Eastern Nebraska Veterans Home in Bellevue, Nebraska.Robert served in the United States Air Force at Offutt Air Force Base in Bellevue, Nebraska. He met the love of his life, Phyllis Nadine Bovee in 1952 and they were married 37 years before her passing in 1989. He was a member of the American Legion for 60 plus years and was a Forth Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus. Robert retired from the American Red Cross serving many years as a maintenance supervisor.Robert was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Phyllis; daughter, Donna Goldsborough; brother, Donald. He is survived by his children, Robert A. (Rosemarie) Bruns III, Pamela K. (Rallen) Nielsen, Diana Lynn (Haroun) Hamuud, George A. (Paige) Bruns Sr., Michael Lee Bruns; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Jean Caudill and JoAnn Benke; sister-in-law, Carol Olsen.Memorials are suggested to the Eastern Nebraska Veterans Home.
