Donnie Ray "Nick" Barnett, age 66, Middlesboro, KY passed away Friday, March 10, 2023 at Middlesboro Appalachian Regional Hospital. He was born on June 7, 1956 in Middlesboro, KY, the son of the late Vester and Bessie Barnett. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his twin sons, Joshua and Jeffrey; one brother, Jimmy Wayne Barnett and infant sister, Betty Barnett. Donnie retired from the City of Middlesboro Sanitation Department. He loved to walk, you could find him on the fitness trail or walking from his camper along the waters at the lake. He loved Kentucky Basketball, sitting on the bench at Wal Mart or the Mall and always a candy to share. Most of all, he loved his family dearly, especially Blake.

He is survived by his son, Donnie (Hope) Barnett II; grandson, Bake Barnett; friend, Cheryl Wilson; brothers: David, Bennie, Kenny and Roger Barnett; sisters: Joyce Buttery and Delores Williams and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Funeral service will be 7 p.m., Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at Shumate Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside service will follow at Mountainview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kenny, Benny, Roger, and Blake Barnett, Andrew Hamlett, Joe Williams and Jason Williams. The Family will receive friends 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at Shumate Funeral Home Chapel.
