Bobbie Lee Teague

Bobbie Lee Spaulding Hartzog Teague, 89, of Fleetwood, NC, passed into the presence of her Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, March 12, 2023. A memorial service will be held at Bald Mountain Baptist Church, West Jefferson, on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at 10:30am with Rev. John Elledge and Rev. Lawrence Goodman officiating.

Bobbie Lee Spaulding was born to Robert Houston and Vivian Christine (Walker) Spaulding in Fleetwood. Bobbie graduated from Fleetwood High School. She was a member of Big Flatts Baptist Church and a member of Girls in Action (GA's), achieving the highest honor of "Queen with Scepter". After attending business college in Winston-Salem, Bobbie married Charles Faw Hartzog, son of Thomas M. and Mattie "Johnnie" (Faw) Hartzog of Obids. Charles served in the U.S. Army (Korean War, Ft. Polk, LA). They then moved to Detroit, MI, where Bobbie worked for Sears Roebuck.

The couple settled in Brevard County, FL, in 1957. Charles worked in telemetry for the space program with RCA until his death, in December 1985. Bobbie and Charles raised their two daughters, Amber Colleen and Tamara in Brevard. They were faithful members of King Street Baptist Church of Cocoa, FL, where Charles served as Treasurer and Bobbie was a well-respected teacher, serving the youth for many years in Sunday School and summer VBS and later leading adult Sunday School until 2015.

In October of 1988, Bobbie married widower Charles Boyd Teague of Hickory, NC, a heavy construction carpenter and foreman with Bechtel in Brevard County. Together, they built their present home in Fleetwood and then divided many happy years between Brevard and Ashe counties until his death, June 2017. They were members of both King Street Baptist Church and Bald Mountain Baptist Church.

Bobbie came to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ as a young girl and remained a diligent and devoted Christian, wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She was graciously forthright, wise and compassionate in counsel, generous, and deeply loving. These traits, in addition to her love of the Lord and His Word, have remained hallmarks of her life. Her legacy of unswerving faith and strength continues to inspire all who knew her, especially her daughters and grandchildren.

Bobbie is survived by her daughters Amber Stewart and Tamara (Dan) Willey, both of Madison, AL; brother Dr. D. Travis Spaulding, of Altamonte Springs, FL; brother-in-law Lee Cox, of West Jefferson; brother-in-law Basil T. (Joyce) Hartzog, of West Jefferson; sister-in-law Jean Hartzog, of Wilkesboro, NC; aunt Mary Elizabeth Walker Barnette, of Lenoir, NC; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, one neice and nephew, and two grandneices.

Bobbie is preceded in death by her brother Houston Keath Spaulding, sister-in-law Helen Walsh Spaulding, nephew Houston Keath Spaulding, Jr., sister Barbara Spaulding Cox, brother-in-law Thomas M. Hartzog, Jr., and son-in-law Phillip Stewart.

Her family knows that as she was welcomed into Heaven, she heard her Lord say, "Well done, good and faithful servant." Our hope in Christ, she once wrote, is another reunion day: “Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.” Hebrews 10:23
