Mildred Carberry Obituary

Mildred “Billie” Foutz Carberry passed away on March 11, 2023, in Waco, Texas at the age of 101. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Carberry; son, John Byron Carberry; parents, Elmer, and Ethel Foutz; sisters, Rozane Cardon, Ardith Wood, Helen Allen Hayes, Ilene Chavez, and JoAnn DeFrates; and brothers, E J Foutz, Loyd Foutz, and Hugh “Hank” Foutz. She is survived by her her brother, Bruce Foutz; and John Byron’s best friend, Gordon Swanson, who has cared for and loved Billie since John’s death, along with numerous nieces and nephews who will miss her remarkable personality.

Mildred was born on September 12, 1921, to Elmer Foutz and Mary Ethel Brimhall Foutz in Fruitland, New Mexico. Her three older sisters, Rozane, Ardith, and Helen were excited for their new sister, but Elmer had hoped for a son and so when the fourth girl was born, he nicknamed her Mildred “Billie”, for which she went by for the rest of her life. Following Billie was a fifth girl, Ilene nicknamed “Pete”, Jay, Loyd, Bruce, JoAnn, and Hank. She married Lonnie Lee Carberry on July 7, 1945, and had one son, John Byron. Billie had many talents. During WWII, she was one of the few special-purpose welders on top-secret projects. She was an accomplished rancher, gardener, and landscape artist. She loved studying, debating, and living the Word of God.

Billie’s family would like to express many thanks to Gordon Swanson, The Delaney at Lake Waco, and caregivers, Jessica and Alexis for the love shown to Billie.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 24, 2023, at Moody Cemetery, 1506 Ave. D, Hwy 317, Moody, TX.
