<p>Gerald Cuvelier </p><p><br></p><p>August. 29, 1949 - March 10, 2023</p><p><br></p><p>It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gerald Joseph Cuvelier, 73, of West Dover. Gerald passed away Friday, March 10, 2023 in hospital surrounded by his family.</p><p><br></p><p>Gerald was a beloved husband and father to his surviving wife Barbara and children Trish, Cindy and Gerald Jr. He was predeceased by his mother Gladys Cuvelier, and sisters Mary Quinn and Rose Zinck.</p><p><br></p><p>In Gerald’s younger years he worked in construction, did some lobster fishing and enjoyed hunting and trout fishing in his free time. Gerald was mechanically inclined and when he was young, could always be found under the hood of a car or fixing a ski-doo. He was a wealth of knowledge and could be counted on for sage advice as to what was wrong with your car or what the best car was to buy. As Gerald got older he enjoyed watching shows about cars and history. He became a sci-fi lover and was a true Trekky at heart, but his favourite show was SG-1 which he liked watching in the evening with a molasses cookie or two and his dog Mitsy on his lap.</p><p><br></p><p>In his later years Gerald’s greatest love was spending time with his family. He enjoyed family get-togethers where he could laugh and visit with his children and their families. He got particular enjoyment from watching the Sunday NASCAR races and discussing the standings with his son Gerald Jr., his grandsons Braiden and Gabe and his son-in-laws Bradley (Trish) and Clyde (Cindy). Talk of his favourite hockey team, the Montreal Canadiens, and baseball team, the Toronto Blue Jays would always make it into the conversations and laughter. </p><p><br></p><p>Gerald had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren Jessica, Braiden, Gabe, Josh, Bella, and great grandson Jace. He loved to share his favourite sweet (Wine Gums) with them whenever they visited. Just as he loved to share his sweets, he also loved to share Grampy’s magic pillow where you would inevitably find one of them curled up fast asleep. They made his heart happy and were always able to make him smile. </p><p><br></p><p>Gerald was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was loved more than words can express. His wisdom and the care he showed his family will always be a part of them and will forever be carried in their hearts. </p><p><br></p><p>We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Robert Horton, the nursing staff and support staff of the Palliative Care Unit on 7A at the VG for the great care and concern they showed our family during this difficult time. </p><p><br></p><p>As per Gerald’s wishes there will be no service.
