Matthew A. Butts, 56, passed away Friday, March 10, 2023. The loving husband of Sharon Flynn Butts, Matthew was born October 9, 1966, to the late George Butts and Betty Ventura in New Bedford, Massachusetts. A Training Developer for GPStrategies, he developed an effective means for providing education and skills training for employees while keeping safety as his top priority. There is a very personal story that begins 8 years ago when a little boy came into his life, his grandson Finn. Matthew “Pops” had ears that truly listened and he loved to share all his passions from building fences, birdhouses, shooting crossbows, deer hunting, tracking, fishing and canoeing. Matthew and Sharon had an inseparable bond. Always celebrating their love for one another. Their love for travel took them many places. Matthew’s infectious laughter will be so missed. Matthew was an avid reader and a huge fan of the library, checking out books on tape regularly for that commute to work. Giving of himself to anyone in need, whether it be his time, skills, or just a good laugh. Matthew was a devoted, tender-hearted husband, father, and grandfather.

In addition to his wife of 17 years, Sharon Flynn Butts, Matthew leaves behind daughters, Mehgan Hoover of Versailles, Emily Hoover of Lexington; a son, Zachary Hoover of Frankfort; a sister, Melinda Ventura of Massachusetts; sisters in law, Angie Flynn of Versailles and Carole Flynn of Owensboro; brothers, Michael (Donna) Butts of Massachusetts, Tom (Andrea) Butts of New Mexico, Tim (Christine) Butts, of New Hampshire; a brother in law, Wayne Flynn of Versailles; and his grandchildren, Finn and Archer.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held from 4:00p until 8:00p, June 24, 2023, at Clark Legacy Center, Versailles Rd, Frankfort.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests Memorial Contributions be made to the Woodford County Humane Society, 265 Thomas Lane, Versailles, KY 40383
