Joseph P. Moniz

<p>Joseph P. Moniz, Jr., 94, Passed away on March 9, 2023. He was born September 1, 1928, to Joseph Sr. and Theordora Moniz and raised in Leonia, NJ. He met Jessie Underwood, in Willet, NY and were wed May 7, 1950. Together they raised their three children in Teaneck, NJ where they resided for over 30 years. Joseph and Jessie enjoyed years of marriage before her passing September 8, 2017.</p><p>Uncle Joe, as referenced by many was somewhat of a jack-of-all trades, he could fix anything and caretaker of all. He was a plumber, carpenter, an electrician, and was a self-employed mechanical engineer. In 1983, he was honored as Master of the Boiling Spring Lodge No. 152 Free and Accepted Masons, in Rutherford, NJ. He worked for years at A. Zerega’s Sons years before retiring with Jessie to Cincinnatus, NY. He enjoyed collecting decoys, tinkering in the garage, and driving his tractor. </p><p>Joseph is survived by his children, Joseph (Anna) P. Moniz III of Congress, AZ, Mitchell (Kenia) Moniz of Paterson, NJ, and Linda (Rick) Cantwell of Long Island, NY. He also leaves behind many grandchildren, Joseph IV, Mitchell Gilbert, Ricky, Michelle and Jonathan, and great-grandchildren, as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is predeacesd by his parents, brother Robert, sister Teddy, and his beloved wife Jessie.</p>

My condolences to all of Uncle Joe's children. Uncle Joe was my grandfather's ( Charles Moniz) brother. He passed away in November 2022. This is the end of an era!
