David A. LeCours Obituary

David A. LeCours, 70, of Westbrook passed away at his home on Friday morning, March 10, 2023. He was the beloved husband of Connie (Lepak) LeCours and they enjoyed 46 years of marriage. David was born on September 2, 1952, in Springfield, MA to Joseph and Helen (Thorin) LeCours. He summered in Westbrook since the 1970s and became a permanent resident of Westbrook in 2014 moving from Belchertown, MA. David was employed by the United States Postal Service for 40 years. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam War.


David was named Belchertown’s Outstanding Citizen of the Year in 1991 due to his work with veterans organizations and service as a town official. He was a dedicated Life Member of the American Legion, serving as a Post Commander for 10 years. He was an avid sportsman and joined the Niantic Sportsman’s Club upon moving to Westbrook. After retirement, his favorite pastime was walking his little dog, Daisy, along West Beach. He enjoyed spending time outdoors gardening and landscaping.


Besides his wife Connie he leaves his son, Bob LeCours and his wife Kathie of Costa Mesa, CA, his daughter, Sarah Araya and her husband Yulio of Westbrook, his grandchildren, Kevin and wife Chrissy, Alyssa, Isabel, and Gregory and his brothers, Michael and Allen LeCours.


The family would like to thank relatives, friends, neighbors, and especially the hospice nurses and aides for their care and support throughout David’s illness.


Visitation will be held at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street in Centerbrook on Friday, March 17, 2023 from 10:00AM to 11:30AM. A Prayer Service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 11:30AM. Burial with the rendering of Military Honors will follow the Prayer Service in the State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown.
