Obituary

David Mason White passed away at Chester County Hospital /Penn Inpatient Hospice after a brief illness. Affectionately known as “Whitey”, “Uncle Dave”, or “UD”, Dave was the youngest child of Jack and Shirley White.  He was a 1978 graduate of Henderson High School and a 1983 graduate of West Chester University, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree. He was a talented cartoonist, sketcher, and muralist.  Starting as a teenager, Dave made hundreds of greeting cards for friends and family members for holidays and special occasions. But he earned his living by painting “large still lifes” as a well-respected residential painting contractor for over 40 years.

Dave had a humble, kind, and happy personality that helped to forge many lifelong friendships. He was devoted to his parents, who he helped care for until their deaths. He was an amazing “UD” to his niece and nephews, a role that he cherished. Always available to dog sit, paint a bathroom or help stain a deck, he was a welcome +1 at any barbecue! Dave was an accomplished fisherman and was constantly trying to “catch the big one”, whether at his family home on Lake Champlain in Vermont, or at any invitation from other fisherman to join them.

He was a witty and clever wordsmith who could win Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune every night! He was the master of movie trivia. He loved Penn State football, Villanova basketball, all Philadelphia pro sports teams, Seinfeld, Downton Abbey, Monty Python, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Yellowstone, Sunday comics, Diners Drive-ins and Dives, Classic Rock and Funky Friday.

He is survived by his brother, John White (Debbie), sister Sue Villarini (Carl), aunt Doris Howe, niece Merritt D’Angelo (Jay), nephews James Villarini, Tyler, Brandon, and Riley White, great nephew Cameron D’Angelo, and many devoted friends.

Our family would like to give a special thanks to the nursing and hospice staff at Chester County Hospital for their amazing kindness and excellent care during Dave’s hospitalization.

We will miss him dearly but take comfort in knowing he is reunited with those he loved and missed so much.

Please join us at a celebration of Dave’s life to be announced at a later date.

As Dave would say, “Keep the Faith!”
