Donna Jean Block Paducah, Kentucky Obituary

Donna Jean Block

Donna Jean Warner Block passed away Monday, March 6, 2023 in Paducah, Kentucky. She was born April 9, 1946 in East Prairie, Missouri to the late John Warner and Ida Krauss.

Donna grew up in East Prairie, Missouri and met her wonderful future husband Donald Block in Los Angeles, California. Before his passing after 24 years of blessed marriage, they together had twin daughters Stephanie Block-Farris (Mic) and Michelle Block. Steph and Shell were Donna’s pride and joy; she loved her girls so deeply and was enormously proud of them.

Starting her career as a secretary at Hughes Aircraft Company, Donna worked full time, raised young twin daughters, and went back to school at night to graduate college.

She earned promotion after promotion at such industry leaders as Hughes, Dell Computer, and Parsons. She retired as an experienced and talented Human Resources Executive and then moved back home to East Prairie to help take care of her mom.

In her life journey, she bonded with Phil Wilson twenty years ago, spending over a half-decade in partnership, both in business and in life.

Donna hit the family jackpot with her siblings - Betty Dee, John Krauss (Brenda), Chris Krauss, and Paul Krauss (Lila). Her sister and brothers often visited Donna when she took on her career opportunities in Texas, Utah, Tennessee and California. Donna had many wonderful nieces and nephews that called her Cool Aunt Donna. She loved that!

Donna was so fortunate to have many special friends; some dating back to elementary school.

Unquenchable is the word that best describes Donna’s appetite for reading; she was an incredibly avid booklover. When Donna was little, she read every book in the children’s section of the East Prairie Library. The librarian then let her read books from the older kids section, and she never lost that desire as she grew into adulthood.

Donna could be considered a treasure hunter of sorts, loving the search for hidden gems at estate sales, flea markets, garage sales, and auctions. She owned several antique malls over the years but eventually loved the simplicity of renting out a booth at her local antique mall.

Donna is survived by her two daughters, Stephanie and Michelle, and her granddaughter Monroe.

At Donna’s request, there will be no funeral or memorial service. The family will notify loved ones when a future celebration of life is planned, and since Donna loved desserts, there will be an epic dessert bar.

Milner & Orr Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Paducah is handling arrangements.

During this difficult time, you may show your support by joining the "Hugs from Home" program, where your message will be attached to a balloon in the chapel to remind the family of your love and support. Please go to www.milnerandorr.com <http://www.milnerandorr.com/> to send a hug.

You can send a message to the family and light a candle at www.milnerandorr.com <http://www.milnerandorr.com>.
