Patrick J. Ruane, 90, of Brick Township, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 9, 2023. He was born and raised in Newark, NJ. At the age of 16 he became the patriarch of his family after his father tragically died as a result of a work-related accident. He married the love of his life, Marion in 1959 and they raised their six children in Howell Township before retiring to Brick Township.  He was a proud member of the Ironworkers Local 11 for more than 50 years, a member of the Elks Club and the Knights of Columbus. Patrick enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling, dancing, and playing cards. He will be remembered for his animated story telling and his fun-loving spirit.

Predeceased by his parents, Patrick and Eileen (Hayes) Ruane; his siblings, Eileen, Maureen, Denis, William, John, and Edward; and his devoted wife of 62 years, Marion Ruane; he is survived by his sister Katherine Manning, and two brothers Robert and Michael Ruane, his six children, Patrick Ruane, Jr., Kathleen Fischer and her husband, Bill, Colleen Powers and her husband, Bill, Eileen Knier and her husband, John, Kevin Ruane and his wife, Danal, Karen Wilkie and her husband, Geoff; twelve grandchildren, William, Taylor, Ryan, Colleen, Lindsey, Caroline, Conor, Kelly, Alyssa, Ben, Austin, Morgan; and one great granddaughter, Kensley; and 24 nieces and nephews

Visitation will take place on Monday, March 13, 2023, from 5 PM- 8PM at O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at 10 AM at St. John's Roman Catholic Church, 619 Chestnut St, Lakehurst, NJ 08733, followed by  entombment at Monmouth Memorial Park, Tinton Falls.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Patrick’s name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
