Lawton McCoy Pratt

Lawton McCoy Pratt, 97, of Roanoke, passed away, Friday, March 10, 2023 at the Lewis Gale Medical Center.  He was born in Floyd County, Virginia on January 30, 1926 to the late Mullins and Alma Pratt. 

He was also preceded in death by ten brothers and sisters. 

Lawton was U. S. Army veteran serving in World War II and fought in the Battle of the Bulge.  He retired from Service America working 34 years and after retirement worked part-time at Federated Auto Parts for 25 years.  He attended Hollins Church of the Nazarene.

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Helen Pratt; two sons, Dale Pratt (Sherri), Mark Pratt; two grandchildren; Derrick Pratt and Michelle Pratt; one great grandson, Daniel Pratt; two sisters, Pauline Poff and Mary Ruth Buckner; numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 15, 2023 from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM in the Oakey’s North Chapel.  The funeral service will be held Thursday, March 16, 2023 at 2:00 PM in the Oakey’s North Chapel with Pastor Lynn Riddle officiating.  Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
