Judith A. Smiczek Obituary

Judith A. Smiczek (Adcock) passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, after a brief illness. She was 79.

Judy was born in Toledo, Ohio in 1943, to Norm and Ethel (Baker) Adcock. She attended Toledo University before marrying Tom (August 1963) and raising three children. She returned to school in 1978, when the children were 13, 11, and 3, to complete a nursing degree from the N.W. Ohio Practical Training Center in Toledo. For the next 10 years, she was a nurse for the offices of Dr. Fraser, Dr. Domini, Dr. Baldoni, and Dr. Schneider in Perrysburg, being a part of the wellness for the Perrysburg community.

Over the years, the family was transferred many times through Tom’s work. They lived in Toledo (OH), Hartford City (IN), St. Paul (MN), Saline (MI), Perrysburg (OH) and Valparaiso, IN. Before and after she and Tom retired, they traveled in their motor home. They visited all except six states, including their favorite place, Myrtle Beach (SC). One trip took them from Florida, across Canada, to Alaska, and back to Florida. Over those years they resided in Naples (FL), Hilton Head (SC), and finally, after surviving breast cancer, they returned to Perrysburg (for the last 13 years) to be closer to the grandchildren. Over the years, Judy was involved in Welcome Wagon, as well as Bridge and Bunco groups. She was an active volunteer at the schools. Through her nursing, she participated in the sports physicals for the Perrysburg student athletes. She was an avid reader, enjoyed sewing, cooking, going on cruises, and taking care of her family. Over the years, she enjoyed doing her own haircut and perms, as well as the family’s haircuts.

Judy is survived by her loving husband of nearly 60 years, Tom Smiczek; daughter, Debbie (Ray) Goeckerman Raleigh, NC; son, David (Cindy) Perrysburg, OH; son, Dan (Cara) Los Angeles, CA. She was grandmother (Grams) to Tim, Fremont, CA; Gabrielle, Perrysburg, OH; River, Los Angeles, CA; Eliot, Los Angeles, CA. She is preceded in death by her parents, Norm & Ethel (Baker) Adcock; sister, Peggy; and many other special aunts, uncles, niece, and cousins.

Family and friends will be received for a Celebration of Life at the Witzler-Shank-Walker Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary St., Perrysburg on Sunday, March 19th from 3-7pm. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Monday March 20th at 11am.

Memorial contributions may be made to Tunnel to Towers, American Heart Association, or American Cancer Society. Online condolences can be made to the family at walkerfuneralhomes.com.
