Lorna Ruth Barber

<p>Lorna Barber, age 93, was called to her heavenly home on Saturday, March 11, 2023 and is now reunited with her husband, Edward.&nbsp; She was born at home in Appleton on July 17, 1929, the daughter of Arthur and Selma (Krenke) Rubbert.&nbsp; She attended St. Paul Lutheran Grade School and graduated from Appleton West in 1947.&nbsp; On September 19, 1949, Lorna was united in marriage to her beloved husband Edward Barber, Jr. at St. Paul Lutheran Church.&nbsp; They were blessed with 58 years of marriage before his death in 2007.&nbsp; Lorna was baptized, confirmed, married and now buried by the church of her faith.&nbsp; She was employed as the church secretary for 10 years.&nbsp; Lorna was an active member of the Ladies Aid and a member of their Past Presidents and Past Officers Clubs. The best times were spent with her children and grandchildren. </p><p>Lorna is survived by her daughter Beckie (Pastor Curt) Grube of Algoma, her three sons; James (Patty) Barber of Menasha, Richard (Sue) Barber of Appleton and Robert Barber of Appleton, her grandchildren; Paul (Jennifer) Grube of Nevada, Anna (Shane) Carr of Arizona, Jennifer (Brandon) Corcoran of LaCrosse and Jon (Michelle) Barber of Appleton. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Marjory Barber of Appleton and her three great grandchildren; Xavier, Molly and Erica. </p><p>Lorna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brother Gerhardt (Evelyn) Rubbert, her step-mother Viola Schultz Rubbert, in-laws Phyllis and Grant Jones, Betty and LeRoy Haufschildt, Bruce and Patricia Barber and Clifford Barber. </p><p>The funeral for Lorna will be at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 302 N. Morrison Street, Appleton at 11 am on&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Thursday, March 16, 2023 with Pastor Matthew Holtz and Pastor Curt Grube concelebrating.&nbsp; Friends may call at the church from 9:30 am until the time of the service.&nbsp; The committal will be in Riverside Cemetery, Appleton.&nbsp; In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed in Lorna’s name to St. Paul Lutheran Church or School. </p><p>The family would like to thank Appleton Retirement Community and Moments Hospice (Christina) for their loving care. </p><p>But Jesus immediately said to them:&nbsp; “Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid” Matthew 14:27 </p>
