Sara Brooks Obituary

Mrs. Sara Brooks of Meridianville, Alabama peacefully went to be with the Lord on Friday morning while at home.   She was 93.  Mrs. Brooks was born and raised in the Corder's Crossroads area of Lincoln County, Tennessee and attended school at Kelso.   After marrying and living in several parts of the country while her husband, Paul, served in the Navy and the Air Force, they made their home in Madison County, Alabama where they had lived since the early 1950s.

Mrs. Brooks served on the staff of Madison Academy where she worked for a number of years as the cafeteria manager and then as the school book keeper.   She later worked as book keeper at the Cummings Bonded Warehouse in Huntsville.

A devoted follower of Christ, Sara and her husband helped to establish the Meridianville Church of Christ where she faithfully worshiped and served the Lord.   She had a green thumb and loved gardening, she enjoyed cooking, and in recent months, she loved to bake cookies for everyone.

She was preceded in death by her husband, W. Paul Brooks and four of her siblings.

Surviving family members include her son and daughter-in-law, Robert T. "Bob" Brooks and his wife, Mary Jane of Tallahassee, Florida;  Her daughter and son-in-law, Corrine Brandon and her husband, Tom of Meridianville;  Her grandchildren:  Paul (Megan) Brandon, Beth (Nick) Woodall; Her great-grandchildren, Kate Brandon, Oliver Woodall, and Ginger Brandon;  Her sister, Ruby (Ray) Tucker.  She is also survived by multiple nieces, nephews, and countless friends and church family who loved her dearly.

Funeral services will be Monday at 2pm at Meridianville Church of Christ with Bro. Tom Brandon officiating.  The family will begin receiving friends at the church at Noon.   Burial will follow the service and will be in Campbell Cemetery in Lincoln County, Tennessee

Mrs. Brooks will be remembered for her kindness, for her happy and positive spirit, never complaining, and for her faith in Christ and her love for her church family.    She was most proud of her family including her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  Her memory will live on because of the joy she brought into the lives of those she touched.

Hazel Green Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
