<p>Wilma Mae Elkins, 81, of Colonial Heights passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2023. Born June 9, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Robert D. and Gladys M. Ashley, and was also preceded in death by her sisters, Betty Stein, Mary Henshaw; and brother, Cecil Ashley. Wilma was a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Petersburg, Virginia. </p><p>She was a devoted homemaker who dedicated her life to raising her children and caring for others, including babysitting for many families in the community who considered her a second mother. She had a passion for collecting dolls, which she carefully curated over the years, and loved spending time at the beach, soaking up the sun and listening to the sound of the waves. Her favorite spot was Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. </p><p>Throughout her life, Wilma was a beacon of kindness, always putting others first and making everyone feel welcome and loved. She had an incredible ability to connect with children and had a natural talent for making them feel safe and cared for. </p><p>Despite her busy life, Wilma always made time for her family, whom she loved more than anything. She was a devoted wife to her husband, and a loving mother to her two sons, who will miss her dearly. </p><p>Jimmie Cleveland Elkins, 84, left us on March 18, 2023, just 9 days after the passing of his beloved wife. </p><p>Jimmie was born on January 21, 1939 to the late Grant and Myrtle Elkins, and was also preceded in death by his brother, Robert "Bob" Elkins. He was a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church. He had a passion for sports, especially professional wrestling. Jimmie began working for the Virginia Department of Transportation, where he would spend 27 years of his life before retiring. </p><p>Jimmie was also a devoted husband to his late wife, Wilma, whom he married on May 7, 1966. They were together for 56 wonderful years, raising two sons and sharing a lifetime of memories. </p><p>They are survived by their two sons, Michael C. Elkins, Robert W. Elkins and wife, Miranda Briggs-Elkins; two grandchildren, Josh Elkins and partner, Jeff Virga, Melissa Elkins, her fiancé, Aaron Jacobs and her mother, Bertha Elkins; two step-grandchildren, Brenna Vincent and Anakin Vincent; Jimmie's sister, Dot Contrell and husband, Michael; sister-in-law, Joyce Ashley; nieces, Sharon Franklin, Robin Via, Robin Mott and husband, Derek; nephews, Doug Henshaw and wife, Stacee, Brian Ashley and wife, Sherri, Evan Cantrell and wife, Carolina; and other extended family members. </p><p>A funeral service for both Jimmie and Wilma, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 27, 2023 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes &amp; Crematory, 2033 Boulevard Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834. Interment will be private. Online condolences may be register at www.ealvinsmall.com. </p>
