<p>Carl Asaph Coolen</p><p><br></p><p>77, Fox Point, Nova Scotia, died March 7th, 2023 at Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg. Born April 25th, 1945 to the late Reuben and Mona (Dominey) Coolen. </p><p><br></p><p>Carl started his career in the fishing industry at a young age where he worked for much of his life. He was an avid card player and especially enjoyed crib, poker, and 45’s. Carl loved all animals, often feeding wild critters from his hand. He enjoyed sports, never missing a curling tournament or a Toronto Blue Jays game and enjoyed bowling in many leagues and tournaments. Carl spent much of his time with his family, playing cards, watching sports or discussing stories from years ago. He would often recount the trouble that he and his friends got into or the funny things his family said and did. </p><p><br></p><p>Besides his parents, Carl was predeceased by brothers Perry and Gary and his special friend Marion. </p><p><br></p><p>Carl is survived by his wife, Jane Andrews, Simms Settlement; daughter Sandi (Rob) Keereweer, East River; son Carl (Cathy Golda Curlew), Fort MacMurray; daughter Heather (Davey) Hiltz, Martin’s Point; and Wayne (Carol), Fox Point. As well as his grandchildren Tiffany, Jillian, Timothy, Natasha, Sebastian, Lauren, and Makayla and his great-grandchildren Finley, and Chip. </p><p><br></p><p>Special thanks to all the staff at Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital and the Veteran’s Unit for their high level of care and compassion. A big thank you to Samantha Feyter for caring for Carl and allowing him to remain at home for as long as possible. </p><p><br></p><p>Family will receive visitors 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, March 14 and Funeral service will be held 11 am March 15 both in the Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, Hubbards. officiated by Reverend James Haughn. A private family graveside service will take place at a later date. </p><p><br></p><p>In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hubbards Area Lions Club or a charity of your choice. </p><p><br></p><p>Online condolences can be made to www.rawalker.ca</p>
