Blanche Lorraine McDiarmid Obituary

Blanche Lorraine McDiarmid age 87, a resident of Rocky View Lodge in Crossfield entered eternal rest on February 25, 2023, in Calgary, AB after a brief illness.

She was born July 18, 1935, in Springbank, Alberta to John and Gladys Quinlan. She was the second of 2 children.

Blanche was a strong woman of faith and a member of the Crossfield Baptist Church. Blanche's early career was owning a hair salon in Drumheller, AB. She then met her true love Daniel Archibald (Archie) McDiarmid. They married and went on to raise 4 children in Linden and Acme, AB.

Blanche was a hard worker, faithfully taking care of home and family. Many an evening was spent around the kitchen table playing cards and enjoying the company of great friends. This tradition continued to be enjoyed by her grandchildren and many evenings were spent teaching them the joys of playing cards and good sportsmanship. She also enjoyed singing songs to the children and was thus known as "Singing Grandma".

Blanche is pre-deceased by her loving husband Archie (1987), cherished daughter Kathy (2020), and parents John & Gladys Quinlan.

She is survived by her 3 sons Michael & Brenda of Penhold, AB, Daniel & Angela of PEI, James of AB, Son-In-Law Cody Earl of Carstairs, AB and beloved sister Lavonne Sammut of Calgary, AB.

She will be missed dearly by her grandchildren Chase & Kady Earl of Carstairs, AB, Connie Savage of Chipman, AB, Tammy Porsnuk of Whitecourt AB, Marci Ling Sinaga of BC, Shann Lina of BC, and Jessica McFarlane of PEI; nephews Bruce Pachkowski of AB, Paul Pachkowski of AB and Ron Pachkowski; and many great-grandchildren.

We are grateful to the staff at Rocky View Lodge in Crossfield for their excellent and caring support throughout the years. A fond farewell to her numerous friends and acquaintances at the Rocky View Lodge with whom Mom enjoyed many a lovely meal and Bingo. Mom considered the Lodge her home and it was because of all of you that she felt this way.

We will never forget you Mom.
