Merlin Estrella Ibay, born on March 18, 1946, passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at the age of 76. Beloved wife of 50 years to Reynaldo M. Ibay. Survived by her loving children, Marcia Ibay, Steven Ibay and Edwin G. Ibay (Karen); Grandchildren, Kevin Ibay, (Fiancée Amber Loposser) Austin Ibay, Blake Ibay, Kai Fraser and Krislyn Fraser. Daughter to the late, Jose A. Estrella and Mother Ester B. Estrella from Cebu City, Philippines. Also survived by sisters, Marina E. Espina and Josie E. Gerasta; 5 nieces and nephews, 10 Great grandnieces and nephews and many other family members in the Philippines.
Merlin attended Centro Escolar University, college of Dentistry in Manila. Came to the USA in 1967, Arrived in New Orleans LA. and met Rey in 1968. They married in 1973. Worked as a dental technician for 20 years. She then decided to stay home and become a housewife and enjoy life with her grandchildren. She particularly enjoyed going to the coast on weekends playing at the casino and eating at the buffet. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Family and friends are invited to attend the Service at Garden of Memories Funeral Home and Cemetery, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, LA. 70001, Thursday, March 2, 2023. Visitation will be held from 9:30 am until 11:00 am, with a service at 11:00 am. Interment will be immediately thereafter.
