George Dunbar

<p>George Dunbar, 80, passed into the Lord’s Kingdom on February 18, 2023, at his home in Plainfield, IL, surrounded by his loving family. Together with his wife JoAnn, he founded Dunbar Systems, Inc. of Lemont, IL in 1982, and achieved great success as its proud Owner and CEO. George was a legend in the Baking Industry and was an active member and board member of numerous baking associations. He was also active in several Church councils and a proud member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church for the past 25 years. Known as "Superman" to his family and friends, George always did what he felt was right no matter what people thought. He had a passion for coaching and participating in his children’s and grandchildren’s sports and personal growth, and he made sure to always put family first. George enjoyed travelling with his family and friends, spending time relaxing with The Tin Cup Group, playing card games, and driving his Maserati. One of his favorite things was watching sunsets over the Estrella Mountain range at their home in Arizona with loved ones; particularly while beating them at endless games. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered as a devoted family man.</p><p><br></p><p>George is survived by his loving wife JoAnn Dunbar; children Mark (Christy) Dunbar, Mike Dunbar, Amanda (Mark) Harrison, Scott (Jessica) Boersma, and Dave (Katie) Dunbar; grandchildren Kayla (Ryan) Fahrenbach, Brianna Dunbar, Jenna Dunbar, Riley Dunbar, Mike Dunbar, Madison Dunbar, Ryan Dunbar, Reese Dunbar, Samantha Kikkert, Paige Harrison, Piper Harrison, Faith Harrison, Brandon Archambault, Annie Boswell, and Adrian Boswell, and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents George and Margaret Dunbar, also his sister Pat (Jim) Tuomey.</p><p><br></p><p>Visitation Friday February 24, 2023, from 3 to 9 pm at Anderson Memorial Home, 21131 W. Renwick Rd., Plainfield, IL 60544. Funeral Saturday February 25, 2023, lie in state from 10 am until the time of service, 11 am at Good Shepherd Church, 1310 Shepherd Dr., Naperville, IL 60565. Entombment to follow at Assumption Mausoleum in Wheaton, IL</p><p><br></p>
