Duane Clark Richards, 80, of Marshalltown, passed away Saturday, August 13, 2016 in his home. Funeral services for Duane will be held on Thursday, August 18, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 17 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. also at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family. Duane was born on October 26, 1935 to Jesse and Alice Richards in Marshalltown, Iowa. Duane graduated from Garwin High School and Marshalltown Community College. He spent his career working for R.S. Stover Company, Fisher Controls, Miller Mechanical Specialties and CASA in his later years. On December 17, 2005, Duane was united in marriage to Emma Gummert Brooks. Duane was a loving husband to Emma and a caring, generous man to everyone he met. Duane enjoyed collecting coins and loved his dog, Peaches. Duane will be missed by his loving wife, Emma, and three daughters: Debbie Richards, Jenny Richards and Melissa Richards. He is also survived by five stepsons: Ron Brooks, Wiley Brooks, Roger Brooks, Marty Brooks and Craig Brooks. He will also be missed by ten step grandchildren, 23 step great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: Ardis Harmsen and Evelyn Novotny and several nieces and nephews.
